    These look good! I am ready to pull the trigger on these. I'd like to color match these to my silver truck, I don't think the black will blend well and color matched will be cleaner. My only worry was drive through car washes where we are, they are super convenient out here. My worry is the brushes damaging the lights or leaking through.

    • @FixedVaneDuramax
      @FixedVaneDuramax 10 днів тому

      I don’t have any first hand experience with that yet myself, I generally wash my truck manually with a pressure washer so I can’t tell you how well they hold up to the brushes. I can say that 4-5 washes with a pressure washer directly on them I have not experienced any leakage.

    So basically before you even think about modifying your diesel engine decide to drop 5 to 10 grand on building your transmission 😑

    • @FixedVaneDuramax
      @FixedVaneDuramax 10 днів тому

      Really just depends what you’re going for. If you want a bit more power to tow with and enjoy, you can make a stock allison live a very long time with tuning+ bolt on mods. If you want 500+ hp that you can use and beat on without a concern, you need a trans that can handle it. It’s expensive but I will say that having that peace of mind when you put your foot to the floor that the trans will hold is worth every penny, especially if you are in the competitive field.

    Let me ask you a real solid question. On the lb7 fb forums everyone right now in 2024 is dissing LDS injectors I see u have used them . What’s ur thought on them ?? Everyone is saying like 2015-2019 they used s&s but have stopped and are using there own injectors and warranty sucks and there flow rates don’t match as what there sold for . Whats ur thought im looking to buy Some and there 45s I can get whole set with everything I need around 3500 with anywhere else its around 4 grand with just sac 00 . I know ur busy but I love the channel and seen u have used them and wondering if u me and wanted injectors where would you go other there s&s , exergy

    • @FixedVaneDuramax
      @FixedVaneDuramax Місяць тому

      Good question...here is my long winded experience with LDS. I bought these 65% SACs (new not reman) from them, with the install kit. Tore the truck down and installed them myself meticulously. Had the truck retuned, it ran great for 2-3 days. Then, driving home one night the truck started pouring white smoke and fuel knocking so loud I thought the crank was broken. Poured through diagnostics until finally I came to the conclusion that one of the injectors (#8, back drivers side) had a stuck open solenoid. Reached out to LDS, they told me I had to pay $50/injector to have them retested on their test bench. So I tore the truck back down, pulled them out, sent them back and paid for testing. Sure enough, #8 was bad, had a stuck solenoid. They replaced that injector under warranty. Had no issue with them after that point. I was pretty upset that I had to pay to have them retested to prove to them that they had made a mistake, and that doesn't count what would've been shop labor costs if I were to have had a shop do the 2 separate injector install jobs for me. So for those reasons, I would recommend paying more for Exergy or S&S the first time.

      I've liked it so far, about 6 months in with it. Definitely woke the truck up quite a bit and made it much more enjoyable to drive. I also like that I can adjust the throttle sensitivity within the tuning as well. I have not driven an L5P with full tuning such as duramaxtuner or PPEI to compare it to though. I liked it enough that we bought ECM/TCM tuning through Edge for our 2020 High Country we have as a farm truck.

    Quick question I have to change my cp3 I’ve been told I need to have the truck in time in order to do so is that correct?

    • @FixedVaneDuramax
      @FixedVaneDuramax 3 місяці тому

      Hey good question. The cp3 does NOT need to be timed. On older engines without electronic fuel injection the pumps were responsible for delivering fuel at the proper time to the cylinder. On a common rail/EFI system the fuel injector has an electric solenoid on the the body that opens and closes to deliver fuel at the correct time and quantity (Hence the term electronic fuel injection.) The gear on the cp3 pump can be meshed at any point in the rotation to the cam gear.

    • @FixedVaneDuramax
      @FixedVaneDuramax 6 місяців тому

      Yeah good question. In this video I show that my upper control arms are almost touching the bump stops directly underneath them when the truck is on level ground, I couldn’t even fit one finger between them. If you drive over any bumps or offroad at all as the suspension cylces down the UCA will drop and hit the bump stop, which will make for a harsh ride for you. Different aftermarket companies make control arms that are not flat like the OEM version, so that you have much more clearance between the UCA and the stop. They also change the geometry so that in a leveled application the ball joint is resting closer to the center of its range vs being cocked to the side due to the angle of the UCA. I personally went with Kryptonite UCAs for this truck. I now have about 2” of clearance between the UCA and the bumpstop and almost perfectly centered balljoints.

      To be clear the FICM is still there and controlling the fuel injection, it is just not being fuel cooled as designed from the factory. Not much of a real benefit beside that it allows you to remove several of the hard lines crossing over the valley of the engine bay. Personally I ran this truck without FICM for several years as a DD with no issues before I retired it to a competition only/weekend driver.
